"Fothcrah" is track eleven on the Hungry Lights studio album "The Awry Ascent." Remember that this is a summary, not the entire story! It is 1-10% of what is actually going on—just the skeleton.

Story[]

This is the final chapter of "The Awry Ascent." Prill comes to face-to-face with the beast and is overwhelmed by her majesty. Prill reveals the true nature of his quest, and realizes he has fallen victim to his own desires. He was the prey, not the hunter. And despite this tragic understanding, he decides to go for gold anyway. #cliffhanger

Lyrics[]

No warning, my sea had gone quiet

I was there...

But not prepared to brush with the terrible creature I had found

She invoked my fear!

Now caught in the height of my voyage,

I looked into the sea and focused

In my own reflection—what I saw!

How I felt betrayed!

In the gloom, ruby eyes watched me from behind a mask

With a face just like mine—waiting for my consent

Such a culling could mean my end

Trust and certainty—both guiding into the grave

-A foolish inquiry

I tested the weight of my anchors

I'd survive...

So down I climbed

What wonder could hide in that spiral!

Should I fail, it would mean more shame

Was it pride?

Was it greed that lead me to such poor accord?

In the jaws of the beast, would I still feel the same?

All my life, I'd been robbed of all my dignity

But now I was the rogue who would return it back

Such a culling could mean my end

Trust and certainty—both guiding into the grave

-A foolish inquiry

She hanged—she lingered until I dropped my gaze

Her roar—what thunder to haunt my every dream!

Such corruption leaked into my sea!

In my confusion, she broke through the fence

O' she was patient and sat on my line!

A turning of tide...

Was she the prey or the hunter?

O' I had believed me the hand of a god!

How I must be insane!

But the best of us are...

This madman is bringing home glory and prestige!

Behind the complex is a man with the soul of a king

Or a meal for the beast...
